Re-drafting the 2010 NFL Draft

One of the most fun thing’s I’ve gotten to do as a writer at Baltimore Beatdown is put together mock drafts, where I predict what I think NFL team’s will do in the draft. This time, however, I’m changing it up. Now, I’m going back in time to the 2010 NFL Draft, and giving every team do over with their first round pick with knowledge of how each player’s career will pan out through the 2016 season. Let’s see how the NFL landscape changes when hindsight comes into play. St. Louis Rams Original Pick: Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma Re-draft Pick: Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma In his NFL career, at best, Sam Bradford is an average quarterback. Instead of drafting a quarterback that was ultimately traded

The NFL MVP favorite is … come on, you already know

The favorite of some offshore gambling sites was never in doubt. New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady nearly won MVP in only 12 games last season. Only Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan’s brilliance kept Brady from making history (nobody who has missed more than three games has ever won MVP).

Superior Strength of Schedule

In my Strength of Schedule series for Rotoworld, I will examine a number of methods to accurately understand the 2017 landscape for all 32 teams. The established method looks only at prior-year win percentage with no context and measures those rates against current-year opponents. Although win-loss records determine which teams make or miss the playoffs, a win-loss record is hardly the most accurate way to measure a team’s strengths and weaknesses, or compare them the rest of the NFL.

Panthers Greg Olsen could hold out from training camp over contract

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen is looking for a new deal to “reflect [his] productivity” and hasn’t ruled out the possibility of sitting out training camp until he gets paid, according to ESPN. Olsen is under contract with the Panthers until next season and told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that he wants more money to reflect his productivity and durability. “I think it’s early right now,” Olsen said in the interview. “As the summer goes on and we get some feedback from the organization on how they feel, we’ll make the best decision we can. I’d be lying if I didn’t say that we feel very strongly about where we should be in that totem pole of top tight ends. I’d be hard pressed

Mike Shanahan’s official role with 49ers: Father of head coach

SANTA CLARA – Kyle Shanahan always wanted to coach football with his father. But, first, he knew he had to prove himself without any boost from his well-known dad. Once the son established himself as one of the NFL’s respected offensive minds, the Shanahans teamed up for four up-but-mostly-down seasons with Washington. Mike, the two-time Super Bowl-winning head coach, hired his son to serve as his top offensive assistant in 2010. “I thought we saw football similar, but we quickly realized after a few weeks that we saw it differently,” Kyle Shanahan told NBC Sports Bay Area in February. “We grew together. He gave me a lot of leeway while I was there. It was fun to try a bunch of different things,

Latest Carolina Panthers’ coaching hire comes with wealth of connections to team

The Carolina Panthers’ latest hire comes with a wealth of connections to the team in addition to his dozen years of NFL coaching experience. Ron Turner, hired this week as consultant to the coaching staff, is a former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator who will be expected to work closely with the Panthers offense. “He’s got a wealth of knowledge as a guy who coached at the NFL and college level for a number of years,” head coach Ron Rivera told Panthers.com. Coincidentally hired just days before Father’s Day, Turner is the father of assistant quarterbacks coach Cam Turner. Turner worked with head coach Ron Rivera and defensive coordinator Steve Wilks on the 2006 Chicago Bears team that went
