Browns end miserable 2017 at 0-16 with loss to Steelers

The Cleveland Browns became just the second team in NFL history to finish a season 0-16 after going down 28-24 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. The 2008 Detroit Lions are the only ever side to have gone winless in a 16-game NFL season. Cleveland's losing streak is now at 17 games in all, their only win in 2016 was in the penultimate week of the season.

The team’s offer could be “so strong it could even include an ownership stake in the Raiders.” Here’s a hurdle: The Raiders have a coach.

Buccaneers bringing coach Dirk Koetter back for 2018 season

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will retain coach Dirk Koetter, a source confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter, despite a disappointing season that started with high expectations. In his first season as an NFL head coach, Koetter led the Buccaneers to a 9-7 record in 2016, which included a five-game winning streak late in the season. The Buccaneers fell short of making the playoffs by one game, but it was their first winning season since 2010.

Jay Gruden stays with Washington, and Jon Gruden won’t be going to Tampa Bay

A few days before Black Monday, the day after the regular season when the NFL normally announces the firings of head coaches, three NFL teams have decided to hold onto their head coaches. The New York Jets announced early Friday that coach Todd Bowles was given an extension. Then separate reports said the Washington Redskins will retain Jay Gruden (h/t to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in a bit of a surprise, will keep Dirk Koetter for another season (h/t to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times).

NFL-Falcons vie for playoff spot in regular season finale

The Atlanta Falcons will clinch a playoff spot if they beat the Carolina Panthers in the final week of the NFL regular season on Sunday, an opportunity the team would love to have as it attempts to atone for last season's epic Super Bowl collapse. The Falcons (9-6) would like nothing more than to bury the memory of their February defeat at the hands of the New England Patriots in a game where Atlanta led by 19 points in the fourth quarter before suffering an eventual 34-28 overtime loss.

Brees not surprised Saints were able to overcome slow start

Playoff-bound New Orleans can clinch its first NFC South championship in six years by beating the last-place Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a prospect few envisioned when the Saints opened the season with consecutive losses. ''Those are very good football teams,'' Brees added. The Saints (11-4) turned the season around during an eight-game winning streak and are on the brink of winning their first division title since 2011, in part because of the immediate impact of rookies Alvin Kamara and Marshon Lattimore.
